Letter from the President

Dear Friend of Flow,

This year, 2008, marks the ten year anniversary for Flow Research.  During this time, we have published one or more studies on each flow technology.  We have done a number of specific studies on topics such as gas flow, steam flow, pressure transmitters, temperature sensors, and temperature transmitters.  We have also done a large number of custom projects, mainly assisting companies with new product development or in efforts to form alliances and partnerships. In addition, we have done numerous end-user surveys, to better understand what customers are looking for.  The first ten years have been very good to us, and we expect that the next ten years will be even better.

What does this mean to you?  You can count on us as a one-stop shop for all matters of flow and instrumentation.  We will continue to produce studies, and to be a resource for you when you need data to support your product development efforts, or are looking for a partnership or alliance.  Flow Research is one of the few truly independent voices in the instrumentation universe, and we plan to keep it that way.  We are here to serve you, our friends and clients.  And we are especially grateful for the participation of so many companies as we gather data for the studies.

This October is an especially pivotal month.  During the past four years, we have published a series of studies that cover the entire worldwide flowmeter market.  This series began with the gas flow study, published in September 2004.  Since that time, we have updated most of the studies in our 13-volume series on the worldwide flowmeter market, which is described at http://www.flowresearch.com/flow.htm.  This includes our groundbreaking Volume X: The World Market for Flowmeters, 2nd Edition, which includes all types of flowmeters (www.floweverything.com).  In this study, we initiated coverage of  sonar, optical, and target flowmeters, and added Emerging Technologies to the categories of new and traditional technology flowmeters.

This is a pivotal month  because we area about to start another series of studies that will begin with an update of our worldwide magnetic flowmeter study.  This new study, The World Market for Magnetic Flowmeters, 4th Edition, is scheduled for release in February 2009. If you have not yet received the proposal for this study, let us know and we will send it to you.

In terms of our next study topics, we want to hear from you!  Please let us know about any specific topics you would like us to cover.  For example, one company has asked us to do an overall level study.  We will almost certainly update our gas flow study, which continues to be very popular.  Please send an email to jesse@flowresearch.com with your suggestions and feedback.  We would love to hear from you!

What keeps us going year after year?  At Flow Research, we love flow, and we love analyzing it.  It has also been a joy to work with so many talented and informed friends and clients.  In the next ten years, we plan to build on the solid foundation we laid in the first ten years.  Thank you for your past support, and we look forward to building on this relationship in the future!

Yours in flow,

Jesse Yoder
