Welcome to the October 2003 issue of Hot Hot Topics! Do you seem to never have enough time to finish your To Do list? Then this issue of Hot Hot Topics is for you! In this issue, we unveil a new system of time that is a wonderful productivity tool. By compressing time into smaller units, you can have more hours and minutes in the day. To read more about flowtime, click here. In this issue, we provide more details about the fast-growing Coriolis flowmeter market. We also tell you about the new Flowmeter Working Groups that Flow Research is forming.

If you like Hot Hot Topics, you will love the Worldflow Barometer! Every quarter the Worldflow Barometer brings you completely up-to-date on the worldwide flowmeter market. We tell you who's being acquired and who's selling, what new products are out, and advise you on market strategies. Plus, every quarter we take an in-depth look at one or more flowmeter companies that you need to know about. 1. Flowtime: A New Form of Decimal Time. Most people take our time system for granted. But could there be a better time system? This article proposes a new time system based on the idea of decimal time. Instead of 60 minute hours, there are 100 minute hours. Instead of 60 second minutes, there are 100 second minutes. There are still 24 hours in the day, but you have more minutes and seconds.  See the flowtime clock to find our what time it is now on this new decimal time (available in linked article). Flowtime is a great productivity tool because all of a sudden you have many more minutes and seconds to work with. For more information on flowtime, click here.

2. Flow Research Study Predicts Strong Growth for Coriolis Flowmeters - The Coriolis flowmeter market continues to grow, despite the economic woes of the past several years. This is one finding in a new market study from Flow Research called The World Market for Coriolis Flowmeters.  Revenues are projected to grow at a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 7.6 percent through 2007.  This makes Coriolis flowmeters the second fastest growing flowmeter, behind only ultrasonic meters. For more information, click here.

3. The World Market for Coriolis Flowmeters - Flow Research has recently released a new worldwide Coriolis flowmeter study. It includes market size and market shares for Coriolis flowmeters by geographic region.  Find out the latest information on the Coriolis flowmeter market. Individual studies are also available on other flowmeter technologies.

4. Flow Research Starts New Flowmeter Working Groups. Flow Research is starting three Flowmeter Working Groups that are centered around particular flow technologies. The purpose of these Working Groups is to create a channel for communication between suppliers and end-users, to encourage awareness and use of the particular flow technology, and to encourage the writing of standards for custody transfer and billing applications for the type of flowmeter concerned. For more information on these groups, click here.

5. Flow Research Forms Ultrasonic Working Group. The Ultrasonic Working Group (UWG) is a group of suppliers and end-users of ultrasonic flowmeters that is being started by Flow Research. The purpose of the group is to promote the use of ultrasonic flowmeters and to encourage the writing of standards for ultrasonic flowmeters for custody transfer applications. The UWG will also seek to form an industry consensus on issues where one does not currently exist. Click here for more information.

6. Flow Research Forms Vortex Working Group. The Vortex Working Group (VWG) is a group of suppliers and end-users of vortex flowmeters that is being started by Flow Research. The purpose of the group is to promote the use of vortex flowmeters and to encourage the writing of standards for vortex flowmeters for custody transfer and billing applications. Please read the memo below for a more detailed explanation of this group. Click here for more information.

7. Flow Research Forms Positive Displacement/Turbine Working Group. The PD/Turbine Working Group is a group of suppliers and end-users of positive displacement and turbine flowmeters that is being started by Flow Research. The purpose of the group is to promote the use of positive displacement and turbine flowmeters and to encourage the writing and maintaining of standards for PD and turbine meters for custody transfer and billing applications. Please read the memo below for a more detailed explanation of this group. Click here for more information.

8. Worldflow Monitoring Service - How do you keep up-to-date between flowmeter studies. The answer is the Worldflow Monitoring Service! As a subscriber, every month you get a report that keeps you update on the flow industry (Worldflow Barometer), the process industries (Worldflow Monitor), or changing user needs (Worldflow Perspective). Subscribe to all three reports and get 10 percent off future flow studies and custom projects. Click here for more information.
